"My thinking shapes a unique style, reflecting my vision and the society I live in."

Urooj was born in 1993 in Mīrpurkhās, Pakistan, and belongs to the small city of Sindh, Jhudo. She is a graduate of the Centre of Excellence in Arts and Design, Mehran University,

Jamshoro. She studied for a bachelor of arts in Fine Arts in January 2017. Her major was painting. Her goal is to acquire as many technical skills as she can while exploring art as a more social and public endeavour. She has exhibited her work in different galleries of Pakistan, and took part in the Artist Practice Program Shakir at the Ali Museum, Lahore, Pakistan.

In 2018, she moved to Houston, Texas and joined the Visual Arts Alliance (a community of Houston artists). She exhibited her work in Archway Gallery in Houston for the annual juried exhibition from the 5th July to the 3rd August 2019. Her interest and passion for creating art always urged her to work. During the covid lockdown in July 2020, she conducted online sessions making Eid greeting cards. In 2022 she conducted painting sessions for senior citizens.

The world around her, as she sees it with her vision, is nothing but reflection. Wisdom comes from reflection, which makes us dive within. Reflections are everywhere. In many ways, they are not merely a visual connection but a reflection of society. The power of reflections can be so strong that she believes we often begin to surround ourselves with people we would most like to emulate and mimic, to the point that the person we wear every day can look like fragments of an external world. Her observations forced her to give a physical existence to her ideas and she came up with various artworks which are a pure reflection of her thoughts and beliefs.

She creates her own surfaces to make an art piece. Her unique style of thinking about how to make things better is the reflection of her own thinking, although her artwork is also the reflection of society and reflection of her own vision. She mostly works on mixed medium.
